Basic Life support (BLS) and automated external defibrillation (AED)

This course provides the essential skills necessary for an AED operator to carry out effective, prompt and potentially life saving treatment. The course will ensure delegates have the confidence to act effectively should such an emergency arise.
No recent or previous First Aid knowledge is necessary to attend this course.

This course is suitable for anyone required to operate an AED within their workplace, people interested in advancing their emergency first aid skills and healthcare workers.

Course Content
The course primarily covers how to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and how to use an Automated external defibrillator (AED). The course will include:
• Care of an unconscious casualty
• Heart attacks
• Cardiac arrest recognition and causes • Resuscitation (CPR)
• AED safety
• Understanding and Operating the AED.

Course Length
3 hours.

Assessment and certification
The trainer continually assesses this course.
A certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the entire course. Certificates are valid for one year.
